Automechanika Kuala Lumpur 2026 to promote regional growth through cross-border automotive and mobility collaboration

7 May 2026

Taking place at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) from 14 to 16 May, the 15th edition of Automechanika Kuala Lumpur will highlight Malaysia’s transition into a high-value, future-ready automotive hub, supported by continued investment and strong government incentives. By connecting a strong OEM and aftermarket base with global technology, the 12,500 sqm exhibition, featuring over 300 exhibitors from 14 countries and regions, highlights Malaysia’s position as the primary hub for sector growth and cross-border collaboration in ASEAN.

Ms Fiona Chiew, General Manager of Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd said: “Malaysia’s automotive industry is increasing its presence on the global stage by aligning with international trends and advancing high-technology manufacturing for new energy and AI-connected vehicles. Automechanika Kuala Lumpur 2026 will highlight these advancements across various aspects of the industry, from OEMs to the aftermarket, while also offering local companies with insights into global developments and valuable networking opportunities. At the same time, it will give international participants access to the strengths of the Malaysian market.”

The Malaysian government has backed its industries and promoted their sustainable development through several initiatives. The New Industrial Master Plan (NIMP) 2030 and the National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR) are the engines driving this evolution. NIMP 2030 aims to bolster the country’s manufacturing GDP by 6.5 percent annually,[1] while the first phase of the NETR has already attracted RM 25 billion (over USD 6 billion) in green energy investments.[2] With this support, the transition into high-value, high-technology manufacturing is accelerating, and the broader regional automotive ecosystem is steadily expanding, which will both be evident throughout the show.

This edition of Automechanika Kuala Lumpur will highlight the transformation of the entire supply chain towards advanced technologies. By bridging the local manufacturing boom with global innovations, the show will link OEMs and the aftermarket, helping companies integrate into the full lifecycle of next-generation vehicles through intelligent connectivity, new energy technologies, and AI-driven solutions. At the same time, it will foster business synergy as OEM innovations directly inform and empower aftermarket capabilities through showcases of advanced manufacturing, electrification, and digitalisation.

These transformations will be displayed across a wide range of product categories spanning the entire automotive value chain, responding to strong demand for advanced R&D, battery technology, and smart manufacturing. A series of fringe events will also support this shift by encouraging innovation and talent development, positioning the show as a key platform for regional growth in the ASEAN automotive industry.

Cross-border insights for accelerated development
For instance, the Automotive Mobility Solutions Conference will feature four high-level panel discussions on green mobility and digitalised supply chains, featuring insights from global experts. Key contributors include:

  • ASTM: global leader in voluntary consensus standards, providing the technical foundation for automotive safety, material durability, and environmental compliance.
  • Delta Electronics: focus will be on power and thermal management solutions, driving the e-mobility transition through charging infrastructure and power electronics.
  • DHL Customer Solutions & Innovation (CSI): global logistics powerhouse to present cutting-edge insights into resilient, tech-driven supply chains and sustainable distribution.
  • Nickel Industries: leading producer of critical battery minerals will focus on sustainable supply chains essential for the global transition towards electric mobility.
  • PwC Malaysia: leveraging industry expertise to provide strategic guidance for navigating the green energy transition’s financial and operational complexities.
  • Siemens Digital Industries Software: pioneer in the use of digital-twin technology to optimise high-quality manufacturing.
  • Volkswagen Group Malaysia: insights into strategies for localising NEV production and supply chain resilience by one of the world’s leading automotive manufacturers.

Empowering aftermarket service providers
The Collision Repair Training Workshop will address the technical skill gap arising from the new energy transition and modern technologies. By demonstrating workshop practices in relation to new technical standards, the event assists the aftermarket in handling ADAS calibration and NEV repair, among other topics. Trainers from Alienworld, Axalta Cromax, ESnet Academy, Glasurit, KOVAX, and Launch will lead these live demonstrations, with the event series featuring two specialised modules:

  • Workshop A (Next-Gen Intelligence & Tech): NEV repair essentials, ADAS and sensor calibration.
  • Workshop B (Modern Body & Paint Essentials): advanced refinishing techniques and green maintenance practices.

Extending this aftermarket focus, the latest advancements in refinishing and surface treatment will be showcased, featuring industry leaders such as KOVAX from Japan, whose precision sanding technologies are set to elevate standards in the Body & Paint sector.

Additionally, a significantly upgraded Automotive Service Marketplace will return in Hall 6 as it unites auto detailing and customising. Here, brands such as All Teams8, Aquarama, FM, HKS, JP Origin, KW, and more and will connect international trade with local service retail.

Elevating the exhibition experience
Beyond business exchange, autoFEST@KL will once again serve as an extended networking space that highlights automotive culture. The programme features its signature Music Party, alongside JDM and Classic Car Displays, and EMMA Malaysia’s customised car and motorcycle showcase. An Esports Challenge will also be included alongside new additions such as the Motorsports Talk and more interactive elements, including immersive interactions at the Green Studio, catering to the evolving interests of industry stakeholders.
